Bangladesh Ships Apparels to China

Bangladesh started shipment of apparels to China, another big exporter of textiles and ready-made garments. According to a report published by the Xinhua News Agency, quoting the Dhaka based daily The Financial Express, a number of Bangladeshi knitwear exporters who took part in the 2005 China Export and Import International Trade Fair in Kunming had received orders worth around US$ 2 million for supplying apparels to Chinese buyers. The knitwear exporters of Bangladesh consider China to be a potential market for their products. The President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association confided that apparels were being exported to China at the same price as being charged for the European Union and US markets. He underscored the need for further Government support in terms of banking and display facilities for attracting potential buyers in China.
