The Boao Forum for Asia will organize the World Pharamceutical Conference on 26 – 27 April 2006 in Taizhou under Jiangsu Province in the People’s Republic of China. This event will be part of the Boao Forum’s initiatives to hold Conferences centering on issues of special relevance for the Asia - Pacific region. The detailed programme and agenda of the Conference was announced at a Press Conference held on 22 February 2006 in Beijing.

The two-day Pharmaceutical Conference will witness deliberations on a wide range of topics pertaining to the global pharmaceutical industry. There will be individual sessions devoted to issues like research and development, state-of-the-art technologies, health insurance and quality management, clinical pharmacology and biotechnology. The Conference will create a platform for leading academicians, experts and practitioners in the field of pharmacy as well as high level representatives from the pharmaceutical industry giants. The Conference will identify the current challenges to the further growth and expansion of the pharmaceutical industry in the region and hopes to come up with concrete recommendations that may be useful for policy planners across the board. A number of international and regional health and medical organizations will also participate in the event.

As a forerunner in the pharmaceutical industry among the developing countries, the Conference may hold particular relevance for the pharmaceutical industry representatives in Bangladesh.
