Bangladesh is governed by a Parliamentary form of Government. The
President is the Head of the State while the Prime Minister is the
Head of the Government. The Prime Minister is selected by the
President. The Prime Minister is assisted by a council of Ministers
in discharging his/her duties.
H.E. Sheikh Hasina took oath as Prime Minister of Bangladesh
on January 06, 2009. Earlier on December 29, 2008, under her
Leadership her party Bangladesh Awami league led grand alliance won
a landslide victory in the 9th Parliament Election with
262 seats out of 299 in the National Parliament.
